The beginning of a dream
A Tradition Unlike Any Other
Indianapolis United SC developed as an idea between three friends at a pizza place. Original
members Chantal Incandela, Jason Noel, and Kirby Durham met to discuss creating a soccer team
that represented the city of Indianapolis and the people within it, thus began an indoor team called
Club Arsenal. Club Arsenal's first game was on October 23, 2005 and took place at Off the Wall in
Carmel, IN. Club Arsenal continued to play indoor for the rest of 2005 and the beginning of 2006
before heading outside. Club Arsenal eventually landed in Avon, IN and after a couple of seasons
finally merged with another team to form Indianapolis United C.A. The original concept of bringing
together soccer players from Indiana and representing the city continues to this day. Indianapolis
United and its players represent the city in such a great manner that they are known as "The Pride of
Indianapolis". United members are involved in the community through yearly donations to charity,
involvement in races to raise money for cures to deadly diseases, and membership in worldwide
organizations to fight and eradicate the spread of polio. To be a member of Indianapolis United is an
honor that lasts a lifetime.
Every player who puts on the green jersey and stands together with his/her team members knows
what it means to be a part of the Indy United tradition. Since 2005 Indy United has committed
themselves to playing soccer with pride and sportsmanship unlike any other team in Indiana. The
patch on the left side of their chest represents the oath that each United member has made to play for
the community they love in a manner that encompasses the true definition of sportsmanship. United
members are asked to carry themselves in the highest manner both on and off the field. In return for
their service with the club and the community, Indy United SC members are "knighted" upon their
retirement. To quality for knighting a member must have played 10 games for the club or contributed in
such a manner that both the club and community have been rewarded. Currently United has 3 knighted
members:
Sir Brandon Kepley - 2006-2007
Sir Jason Noel - 2005-2007
Sir Ben Hanes - 2006-2009
Indianapolis United SC
2008 a year going down in History
The 2008 year was the greatest year in the history of Indianapolis United SC. United finished the year
with a 15-4 record. United finished second in both the Brownsburg futsol league and the CIASL outdoor
league. 21 different players scored for united in 2008. Kirby Durham finished the year as the leading
scorer with 31 goals in all competition. Indy United won the annual Avon Classico when they defeated
their longtime rivals Crusaders FC 5-2. New players joined the squad and United said goodbye to two
of its greats, Jason Noel and Brandon Kepley. Many honors took place during the season, Kirby
Durham became the first player to have 50 career goals. Josh Steele became only the second player to
score 25 career goals. Ben Hanes became the all time leader in goal keeper saves. United took the
2008 season to support their loyal fans by giving away free t-shirts to each fan that attended. This was a
first in the CIASL. For the 2008 year United scored 118 goals while giving up only 55. United looks to
continue its great 2008 effort into the 2009 year. Come join United as they look to add more
championships to their trophy case.
2009 The Year of the Championship
In 2009 United said goodbye to member Ben Hanes but United never lost track of the ultimate goal,
representing Indianapolis with solid team play. Indianapolis United again participated in the
Brownsburg futsol league, and unlike last year, United finished the season with the championship.
Throughout the season United members came together to define the true definition of a champion -
character. In the championship game United defeated Covenant Christian 7-6 to win the
championship. For longtime members Kirby Durham and Josh Steele, both members of the 2005
team, this was a season to remember. As the 2009 season continues all United members look
forward to another great year in the CIASL. Come to a game and be a part of history for United in 2009.
