Taking it Outside
United at last
Indianapolis United C.A. began as a discussion between three friends at a pizza
parlor about playing soccer in Indiana. It was decided that a team will be formed
and the name Club Arsenal was chosen. The team started playing at Off the
Wall located in Carmel, Indiana. The first game ever was on October 23,2005.
Club Arsenal won 11-4 against team Just for Kicks. Club Arsenal would
continue to play indoor for the next six months. The team continued to have
success and as the roster grew it finally looked time to start a second team. After
a few meetings it was decided upon to move the second team to outdoor soccer
in Carmel.
With the indoor success the team split and started playing outdoor under the
name Real Indy CF. Playing in the Circle City Athletic league the clubs first
outdoor game was on June 13, 2006. The team would go on to win the CCA
tournament. After the tournament the team decided to move out west and join a
new league called the Indianapolis Adult League. The Avon adult league had
good competition and allowed the team to grow in numbers. As Real Indy CF
was moving out to Avon, Club Arsenal was finishing up their time in indoor. In
order to compete in Avon a merger was formed between the Club Arsenal team
and Real Indy CF.
After moving out to Avon, IN the team went by the name of Invasion C.A. The team
competed in the Indianapolis Adult League and finished third the first year. In the
spring season of 2007 the team finished again in third place eventually lossing in
penalties to Arsenal Indy. It was at that point and time the team realized it was time
to merge with another team and form Indianapolis United C.A. In the fall of 2007
Indianapolis United C.A. took the field for the first time against Crusaders FC. As
an example of what was to come Indy United went into the second half with a 6-2
deficit. After a second half that saw Indy United score 8 goals, United won 10-8.
Finishing second with a 5-2 record, Indy United finally put together consistent
games. Indy United wears green and white as a tribute to the Celtic heritage of
team founder Ben Hanes. With the 2008 year approaching, Indy United looks to
increase fan support, compete every game, and have fun every minute. Support the
team as they look to win the Indianapolis Adult League Championship!
